Lorin Dixon: The Heart Behind ZaveryVerse
From the Court to the Cast. From One Mold to a Universe.
🥞 Where the Idea Was Born
Before ZaveryVerse was a brand, it was a moment. One morning with my niece. She asked me for Mickey Mouse pancakes, and I thought, easy. I made the three-circle version we all know and she looked at it and said, "No, TT. I want it to look exactly like Mickey Mouse." I tried again. I couldn't draw Mickey's face to save my life. She refused to eat it.
So I went online searching for something that could help me make what she wanted. The thing I kept thinking was: why doesn't this exist? Why can't we bring the characters we love into the things we make every day?
I'm a collector at heart. Supernatural. Charmed. Aaliyah. I've always surrounded myself with the worlds and stories that shaped me. And standing there with my niece, I realized something: what she wanted wasn't a kid thing. It was the same thing I'd wanted my whole life, a way to bring fandom into the things we make, not just the things we buy. To stop being a passive consumer of the worlds we love and start being a maker inside them.
That was the spark. The dream of ZaveryVerse was born that day, a year before my son, Avery, was even here to help name it.
🏀 From the Court to the Cast
I'm Lorin Dixon. Former UConn Husky. 2X NCAA Champion. McDonald's All-American. WNBA. Olympian. Founder of ZaveryVerse. Mom to Avery.
Basketball taught me discipline, resilience, and vision. But it was building this brand that taught me something the court also did, the people who win in life are the ones who never stopped playing. The ones who kept the part of themselves that gets excited about a fictional world, a fandom, a hobby, a dumb idea worth chasing. The world tells you to put that part away when you grow up. I think that's the worst advice anyone ever gave us.
ZaveryVerse exists because that part of you is still in there. And it deserves a place to come out and play.
🌌 What We Believe
We believe adults are allowed to love what they love, out loud, without apology, without explanation.
We believe the making matters more than the made. The hour you spent pouring chocolate Pennywise figures with your friends matters more than how the figures turned out.
We believe creativity got gatekept by people with $400 candle kits and "elevated" Pinterest aesthetics and that we can take it back with one mold and whatever's in your kitchen.
We believe fandom is for grown-ups too. The same person who cried at the Avatar finale at 14 still cries at it at 34. We're building for that person.
We believe in the hunt. The thrill of finding the next drop, completing the set, owning the rare one. Our molds are designed to be collected.
And we believe the world told you to grow up. We think that was a mistake.
🌟 Where We've Shown Up
Our molds have sold out at the NBA Store, Hot Topic, Fanatics, and Amazon, placed in the hands of fans who recognized something they'd been waiting for. Every drop we've done has found its people.
But the placement we care about most isn't on a retailer's shelf. It's in your kitchen, your craft room, your collection, wherever you decide to make the thing you love.
🌍 A Brand Making History
ZaveryVerse is a Black-owned, woman-owned, family-run company and the first Black-owned licensed brand with official deals from Warner Bros, Paramount, Nickelodeon, and the NCAA. We make the molds that turn the worlds you love into the things you make.
One mold. Infinite mediums. Pancakes, candles, soap, resin, chocolate, bath bombs, paintable figurines, whatever you want to pour, you can pour. We just make sure that when it sets, it looks like something you actually love.
💫 From Our Family to Yours
Permission to create. Permission to play. Permission to love what you love at any age.
That's the championship I'm chasing now.
